Johnny Ruffo and his professional dance partner Luda Kroitor have been named the season 12 champions of Dancing with the Stars Australia.

The former X Factor Australia finalist triumphed over singer-songwriter Danielle Spencer and Packed to the Rafters actress Zoe Cramond to take home the Mirror Ball trophy on Sunday evening's grand final (June 17).

Ruffo, who attained a perfect score of 30 for his final routine, was dancing in support of Father Chris Riley's Youth off the Streets initiative, which supports homeless and disadvantaged young people across Australia.

"In my opinion kids don't have a lot of choice in life... so I really appreciate the charity," Ruffo told the programme's official website following his victory.

Olivia Newton-John appeared on the programme to perform 'Xanadu', while Shannon Noll - who was forced out of the competition in its early stages due to a back injury - gave a rendition of 'It's a Man's Man's Man's World' by James Brown.

Former contestants from season 12 - including Kerri-Anne Kennerley, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer - also returned to the dancefloor.
