Christopher Maurice Brown entered the music scene at just 16 years old when he released his self-titled debut album in 2005. While the album reached No.2 in the US, his first single 'Run It!' was a chart-topping hit. He followed this up with successful album Exclusive.
In 2007, he appeared in films Stomp the Yard and This Christmas and later acted in and executive produced Takers.
In early 2009, Brown turned himself in to the police after his then girlfriend, Rihanna, was taken into hospital with facial injuries. Later, he pleaded guilty for felony assault and accepted a plea bargain before apologising in a YouTube video.
Despite being unable to perform in the UK due to his assault, Brown is now becoming more successful both there and across the world. In 2012, his single 'Turn Up the Music' was remixed with ex-girlfriend and victim Rihanna, and rumours continue about the status of their relationship.
