Ian Somerhalder
Respected male model Ian Somerhalder landed his breakthrough acting role in 2002 playing Boone Carlyle in sci-fi survival series Lost, but was killed off after only 20 episodes. However, the character remained popular and continued to make appearances throughout the programme's subsequent five seasons, while the substantial fanbase Somerhalder garnered helped him secure the role of Damon in 2009 show The Vampire Diaries.
