'Theatrhythm Final Fantasy' US release date announced
The music-based Final Fantasy spinoff will be available in North America on July 3. A European date is pending, and still scheduled for this summer.
It will feature 70 songs spanning 25 years of the gaming franchise.
Released in February in Japan, the Nintendo 3DS title merges the rhythm genre with battle scenes, where players must tap the stylus alongside on-screen prompts in order to fight.
Theatrhythm Final Fantasy features characters and music from every Final Fantasy title from the first through to Final Fantasy XIII, including Cloud and Lightning from Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy XIII respectively.
Players must tap and slide the stylus in time with the music across the game's three different stage styles: Field, Battle, and Event.
Traditional Final Fantasy elements will also feature, including dungeons, towns and side-view battle screens, complete with a distinct chibi art style.
The game also contains a wealth of unlockables, including movie scenes from the original games.
Theatrhythm Final Fantasy will be available on July 3 for Nintendo 3DS.
