SimCity Social will launch on Facebook later this month.
EA Games has teamed up with Maxis and Playfish to release the social networking edition of the popular world creation title.
The game, following in the footsteps of The Sims Social, is a revamped edition of the original Sim City with updated graphics, online multiplayer support and a raft of new features.
"I think the translation from SimCity to the social platform really is about reinterpreting the game, and yet making sure we capture the essence of what SimCity is all about, and that's that it is a living city, it is something that you created," Maxis senior vice president Lucy Bradshaw told T3.
"I think what we've done is really similar to what we did with Sims Social which is we've really captured the essence of SimCity; we've brought in all of these quirky unexpected events that are kinda a hallmark of the franchise and reinterpreted it as something that is really delightful, surprising, fun and expressive."
EA is also working on a new SimCity title for PC, which is down for a February 2013 release.
