Nintendo's UK managing director David Yarnton said the handheld "didn't have everything" when it came to functionality, something which the company hopes to amend when it comes to the Wii U.

"I think that's a good observation of lessons [from the 3DS launch] as such, and if we look at it, when I was talking before about third-party support and content with 23 games showing here, I think when we launched 3DS we probably didn't have everything 100% there as far as content goes, the functionality," he told Digital Spy.
"So now we've got the games, the online capabilities are a lot more sorted out so in the UK, people have got free WiFi with the Cloud that they can use their 3DS with - we didn't have that at launch.
"So the full functionality and the features that 3DS had were probably not as apparent at launch as probably we would have liked.
"With Wii U, a lot more of that work behind the scenes has been done, so that when we do end up launching I think people will find all the functionality already there."

Yarton added that Nintendo will, however, continue to "surprise" consumers by "adding more [features] to what they expect" after release.
It was also revealed that further features will be announced for the system leading up to launch.
The Wii U received a full specs and launch game list at E3 2012, and showed off a revamped Gamepad with analogue sticks and near field technology.
