The game was originally slated to release in July and had been pushed back to an unspecified date in the fall. Its absence at E3 led to more questions, with the publisher today (June 18) confirming that the game is now projected for a launch in the first quarter of 2013 in both Europe and North America.
"The release of Anarchy Reigns has been re-evaluated. We now expect to launch in Europe and America in Q1 of 2013," the company tweeted today.
The delay is a matter of timing rather than content, since the game has been complete for some time.
"While our work on the game is finished, localised, and ready to go, as publisher, Sega gets to make the final decision as to when it is released," developer Platinum Games said last month when Anarchy Reigns was pushed back to the fall.
The title will still be released in Japan on July 5.
Anarchy Reigns sees players compete in arena-based combat scenarios in online and local multiplayer modes.
The game will feature characters from Bayonetta and the Wii title Madworld, in game modes such as Battle Royale and Tag Team.
Anarchy Reigns will now release for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2013.
