The Artist earned three awards throughout the evening. Jean Dujardin was awarded the prize for 'Best Actor (Musical or Comedy)' for his role in the film. He revealed that he had once been told that he could never be an actor because his face is too expressive.
"It's not my fault my eyebrows are independent," Dujardin said before raising one of the eyebrows in question.

The Artist also won for 'Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy)', as well as 'Best Original Score'.
Jack Russell terrier Uggie made an appearance as the cast and crew stepped on stage to accept the prize for 'Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy)'.
Meanwhile, The Descendants received two awards. George Clooney won 'Best Actor (Drama)', while the film itself took home the accolade for 'Best Motion Picture (Drama)'.
Meryl Streep was honoured with the 'Best Actress (Drama)' award, while Michelle Williams received the prize for 'Best Actress (Musical or Comedy)'. Streep was flustered by her win, forgetting the cards with her speech before stepping on stage.

The Help's Octavia Spencer was awarded 'Best Supporting Actress', while Christopher Plummer earned 'Best Supporting Actor' for his role in Beginners. The actor thanked his canine co-star, another Jack Russell terrier by the name of Cosmo.
Martin Scorsese upset fellow nominees in the 'Best Director' category, taking home the prize for his film Hugo. He thanked his daughter for introducing him to the book that served as the basis for the movie.
The Adventures of Tintin was awarded 'Best Animated Feature Film', while the Iranian film A Separation earned the accolade for 'Best Foreign Language Film'.
The 2012 Golden Globe Awards were hosted by Ricky Gervais from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in California.
