The Traitor helmer is to bring Vince Flynn's novel to the big screen for CBS Films, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Ed Zwick, who helped pen a screenplay based on the book with Marshall Herskovitz, was linked with the director's chair last summer. He exited the project to head up The Great Wall, in which Henry Cavill will star.
American Assassin follows CIA agent Mitch Rapp as he embarks on a revenge mission. The character has appeared in multiple Flynn novels, including Consent to Kill, which CBS is also planning to adapt.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Nick Wechsler are attached to produce the project, but no cast members have been appointed.
American Assassin is yet to be assigned a release date.
