Ethan Hawke will star in time travel thriller Predestination.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor plays a "temporal government agent" who is sent on time travel journeys with the aim of stopping future murders.
Based on a short story by sci-fi author Robert A Heinlein, the film is written, directed and produced by Michael and Peter Spierig, who previously directed Hawke in 2010's Daybreakers.
Shooting will begin in Australia early next year.
Hawke, who became a father for the fourth time last year, will next be seen in Len Wiseman's remake of Total Recall alongside Colin Farrell.
