The drama, which was previously titled The Surrogate, centres on a writer (Hawkes) who has been in an iron lung since contracting polio as a child.
He hires a sexual surrogate (Hunt) to help him lose his virginity, with the help of his therapist and priest.
William H Macy also stars in the film, which is directed by Ben Lewin and debuted at this year's Sundance Film Festival.

The Sessions will be released on October 26 in the US, with a 2013 release yet to be confirmed in the UK. Watch the trailer below:
