'World of Warcraft' movie finds writer Charles Leavitt

Writer Charles Leavitt has joined the World of Warcraft movie project.

The K-Pax screenwriter will rework the script for Legendary Pictures, reports Variety.

The search will soon begin to find a director to replace Sam Raimi on the video game adaptation.

Blizzard Entertainment's World of Warcraft franchise has spawned the most popular series of massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) in the world.

Leavitt is also known for his work on the Leonardo DiCaprio-starring Blood Diamond. He has written the script for the forthcoming all-ages fantasy adaptation The Seventh Son.

Legendary is yet to announce a World of Warcraft release date, but it is expected to arrive in 2014 if a director is found shortly.
