The death of the Bee Gees singer was announced only an hour before the awards ceremony, but a small tribute was led by Modern Family stars Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen.
Bowen said: "His voice and the music of the Bee Gees will live on forever."
Disco legend Donna Summer passed away on Thursday, with Natasha Bedingfield performing a cover of her classic 'Last Dance'.
She introduced the song by saying: "Donna Summer was a remarkable woman who brought so much light to so many. If we can remember her through her music, this can never really be the last dance."
Whitney Houston was also honoured, with Whoopi Goldberg, John Legend and Jordin Sparks on hand to lead the tributes to the late singer.
Her daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown also appeared to accept the 'Billboard Millennium Award' on her mother's behalf.
Cee Lo Green and Wiz Khalifa also paid trubute to Adam Yauch (MCA) of the Beastie Boys, who died earlier this month after a battle with cancer.
The rapper said: "I just want to thank the Beastie Boys, and we will never forget MCA."
