Record label row inspired Weezer single

Rivers Cuomo has claimed that a row with his record label inspired Weezer's new single 'Pork And Beans'.

The singer revealed that he was so annoyed at DCG Records after they rejected a selection of his tunes that he decided to pen a track with an inane theme.

Cuomo told Rolling Stone: "I came out of it pretty angry. But ironically, it inspired me to write another song."

At one point in the song, Cuomo sings: "Everyone likes to dance to a happy song / With a catchy chorus and beat so they can sing along / Timbaland knows the way to reach the top of the chart / Maybe if I work with him I can perfect the art."

Weezer release their sixth studio LP The Red Album on June 30.
