After her Glassheart era got off to a false start last summer, Leona Lewis is finally back. While 'Collide' remains a euphoric club stomper, it failed to capture the world's attention in the way we imagine Syco wanted it to. What we learned and what we've always known is that Leona is a balladeering powerhouse - and that's something that shouldn't be messed with.
Thankfully, new single 'Trouble' - which we'll consider the proper start to her Glassheart campaign, thank you very much - has all the ingredients to become a modern classic.
"It's gonna take much more than a heart to save me," LeLe confesses over a stomping beat and tender piano, before her voice soars on the Emeli Sandé-penned chorus. It's big, it's emotional and it's what we've come to expect from the Hackney belle - but we wouldn't want it any other way.
What's more, a surprise feature from US rapper Childish Gambino (or actor Donald Glover to all you TV fans) adds a touch of hip-hop class to the proceedings. On paper it seems an unlikely pairing, but on record it results in one of Leona's most natural collaborations to date.
Yes, of course there will be the obligatory X Factor performance and dramatic love story in the accompanying music video, but when 'Trouble' sounds this powerful and Leona's back doing what she does best, we say bring it on.
