Cory Monteith 'was Elton John's waiter'

Cory Monteith has revealed that he pretended to be a waiter when he first met Sir Elton John.

The Glee star admitted that his encounter with John became embarrassing when the singer did not find the joke funny.

He told Macleans: "I asked him, 'Is there anything I can get you, sir? Another beer?' Maybe I was too convincing, as he just said, 'No, thank you', and never looked up from the chicken."

However, Monteith tried again, asking: "Are you sure? Some water, perhaps?" but received only a shake of John's head.

The actor then waited for his co-star Lea Michele to introduce them but was given a funny look by the 63-year-old.

Monteith explained: "He just gave me a 'what the hell?' look, shook my hand and went back to his dinner. It was one of the most embarrassing experiences of my life."
