Cheryl Cole's former minder has claimed that the Girls Aloud star seemed to part from her friend Derek Hough "overnight".
Craig Balkham, who no longer works for Cole, told Heat that she has very few friends apart from Hough, her mother Joan Callaghan, and personal assistant Lily England.
"It was pretty clear that she was lonely," he said. "She doesn't seem to have that many proper girlfriends.
"Derek Hough was the only true friend I saw her with who was not on the payroll. He had genuine, warm feelings for her and overnight she seemed to drop him."

It has been claimed that Cole was dumped by Hough earlier this year, but it was also suggested that X Factor USA bosses had in fact urged her to split from him.
Hough is reported to have both supported Cole's reunion with her ex-husband Ashley and told her that she "deserves more" than the Chelsea footballer.

Balkham added: "I never saw any evidence of other friends. She never spoke to other friends on the phone or invited people to see her. will.i.am was the only other person I saw her with.
"She'd say, 'I'm like a prisoner. I'm trapped. Why can't they leave me alone? Why can't I be normal again?'. She'd speak to her mum a lot and say, 'I'm homesick. I want to come back'.
"She missed having a regular life, but then she's also trying to be a big star in the US. I think she's lost. She changed in the time I knew her."
