The Academy Award winner attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for The Weight Watchers Jennifer Hudson Centre on Tuesday alongside Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel.
Hudson works as a spokesperson for Weight Watchers, revealing to have lost 80lbs on their diet.
The Chicago actress expressed pride to be opening her own health facility, saying: "I never thought I would make it to have my own centre. I'm so honoured to be here and see this day."
Hudson went on to say that she's particularly interested in helping overweight children develop healthy eating habits.
A portion of the Centre's proceeds will be donated to the Hudson-King Foundation for Families of Slain Victim, which the star established following the 2008 murders of her mother, brother and nephew.
Hudson's Winnie co-star Terrence Howard recently praised the actress for bringing "power" to the biopic.
