Ryan Gosling causes frenzy as he attends his mother's graduation

Ryan Gosling caused a stir at Brock University on Wednesday (June 6) when he turned up to watch his mum graduate.

The Drive star attended the ceremony with girlfriend Eva Mendes as fans queued up outside the auditorium, hoping for a glimpse of the couple.



According to The St Catherine's Standard, Gosling left the ceremony early so as not to disturb the proceedings. Reports say Mendes left soon after.

"He requested privacy for himself and his family," said university spokesman Kevin Cavanagh. "He didn't want to be a diversion."

Gosling's mother graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree and hopes to become a teacher. After word spread that Gosling was on campus, 'Brock University' became one of the top ten trending topics on Twitter.















When asked from comment by the paper, Gosling politely declined to answer questions and simply said "This is my mum's day."

Cavanagh said the school wasn't aware Gosling was coming to the ceremony until paparazzi showed up, but that the day still ran smoothly.

"It wasn't overshadowed by the presence of two of the hottest movie stars in the world," he added.
