The Five-Year Engagement movie star, who got married back in 2010 in Italy, said she did not place significant importance on the ceremony.
She told Marie Claire: "I wasn't ever that girl that was dreaming about her wedding day.
"I didn't want it to be a militant, overly thought-out, overly planned affair because I think that's when you get into trouble.
"Who knows what's going to go wrong on the wedding day - the dress could rip, who knows? I was very laid-back about it and decisive."
The English actress also advised: "Very quickly there can become too many cooks in the kitchen because every member of your family wants a say because they want to feel apart of it."
