The Manchester United striker had been spending an evening with wife Coleen Rooney and CNN host Piers Morgan, when he is said to have tripped over a tree.
Morgan tweeted a photo of the pair with the caption: "Soho House, West Hollywood, midnight: greatest moment of @WayneRooney 's life."

Coleen jokingly replied: "@piersmorgan haha!!! What????? Falling over a tree!!! X."
Morgan responded: "Wayne fell over all through the Euros, dinner was no different!"
When Morgan asked Coleen the next day if he had fallen over any more trees, she wrote: "Haha no he's on his best behaviour today!!!"
The England international footballer has been spending time in California with his wife following his team's defeat by Italy in Euro 2012 last week.
