Rosie O'Donnell has revealed that her fiancée has undergone an operation on a tumour.
The comedienne went public about her relationship with Michelle Rounds in September 2011, and subsequently announced that the pair were engaged in December of that year.
Earlier today (August 3) O'Donnell tweeted: "b4 the tabloids run it," and provided a link to a poem revealing that her partner has had surgery in connection with a desmoid tumour.
She begins the poem by describing how the tumour took them by surprise, writing: "took mish 2 malibu / drove to napa / stopped in big sur / heaven on earth
"it was a honeymoon / before the wedding / pure bliss / we laughed loved listened
"then blink - it begins / on mothers day / morning pain / that won't let up."
The star goes on to describe the condition and explain that Rounds is recovering: "only 900 cases a year in the US / an orphan disease - beyond rare / only 3 people per million get this / michelle is one of them
"she is recovering from surgery in june / getting stronger every day / we have joined the fight against this disease / raising money and awareness."
O'Donnell revealed that the couple's planned wedding has been rescheduled for summer 2013, and asked for donations to the Desmoid Tumor Research Foundation in lieu of gifts.
Rounds has previously been described by O'Donnell as "literally perfection".
