Hilton was recorded stating: "Most of them probably have AIDS... I would be so scared if I was a gay guy... you'll, like, die of AIDS."
She has since issued an apology in a statement, claiming it was "not her intent to make any derogatory comments about all gays".
American Psycho novellist Bret Easton Ellis has now taken to his Twitter in defence of Hilton's initial comments.
In the message, he writes: "I kind of agree with Paris Hilton... As someone who has used Grindr? Paris Hilton isn't that far off."
Ellis is currently developing a movie titled The Canyons starring Lindsay Lohan and porn actor James Deen.
