Back at the pub, Kat continues getting close to a number of Walford's male residents. First of all, she shares a moment with Ray in the kitchen when she burns herself on a hot plate and he guides her towards the cold tap. Secondly, Derek defends Kat when Vivienne badmouths her, taking control on her behalf by throwing Vivienne and the entire Old Lions team out. Next, Kat enjoys more flirting with Max outside of the pub, while she and Michael later share a long, emotional hug upstairs after she hands him some of Tommy's old baby clothes.

Meanwhile, Jay is determined to cheer up Lola and spends the day with her. While the football match is going on and The Vic is closed, they sneak into the pub and make a cocktail after spotting that Alfie has dropped his keys outside. They manage not to get caught despite a few close calls, but Lola only just manages to get home in time for her curfew. Billy isn't pleased that Lola was almost late, so he refuses to let Jay in the house after her. Feeling spontaneous, Lola runs out again and plants a kiss on a shocked Jay.
Also today, Phil is pleased to see that Shirley is back to her old self as she continues to work on the burger van project. Phil forbids Ben from reminding Shirley that it's Heather's birthday, not wanting to upset her again. In a strange gesture of self-comfort, Ben writes Heather a birthday card, which he hides.
