Coronation Street bosses have dismissed reports claiming that Andrew Hall has been 'axed' from the soap.

As first reported earlier this week, the actor's character Marc Selby will depart screens towards the end of the month as his storyline with Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) reaches its natural conclusion.

However, tabloid suggestions that producers "pulled the plug" on the character are untrue. Andrew agreed to a six-month deal which played out as planned, and the plotline concludes as originally scripted.

A Coronation Street spokesperson told Digital Spy this afternoon: "Andrew Hall is leaving Coronation Street as the much talked about Marc/Marcia storyline comes to a head at the end of this month.

"This storyline always had a beginning, a middle and an end, allowing Andrew to sign up for a six-month stint on the show."

The build-up to Marc's departure sees twisted Kylie Platt (Paula Lane) discover the truth about his alter ego Marcia, causing fresh turbulence for his relationship with Audrey.
