Virgin Media has teamed up with Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures to launch a dedicated Dark Knight app on its TiVo service to coincide with the final film in Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy.

Celebrating the release of The Dark Knight Rises tomorrow (July 20) in the UK, customers of Virgin's TiVo service can download the app to watch dedicated trailers and clips from all three of Nolan's Batman films.

They can also browse pictures and watch interviews with the stars and crew of The Dark Knight Rises, and read up about the new characters, including villain Bane, a brutish terrorist who wants to destroy Gotham City.

Anyone wanting to catch up on the past two Nolan films can watch Batman Begins and The Dark Knight through Virgin Media movies on-demand.

"The hotly anticipated finale of Christopher Nolan's trilogy is sure to be the summer blockbuster and our new app gives TiVo customers the perfect way to immerse themselves in the action and catch up on the story in advance of the film's release," said Aleks Habdank, director of digital entertainment product at Virgin Media.

"Virgin Media's TiVo service presents a whole new digital entertainment experience for consumers who want more than just a standard TV service, and this app is another example of a great experience that only Virgin Media customers can enjoy."

Developed by Virgin Media using content from Warner Bros Pictures, the Dark Knight Rises app can be downloaded now from the Apps and Games section of Virgin Media's TiVo service.

The cable operator has taken a strategy of releasing companion TiVo apps around big movie releases, including previous services for Twilight: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 and the final Harry Potter film.
