Full coverage of Spain's 1-0 victory over Croatia in Euro 2012 logged 6.33m (28.3%) between 7pm and 10pm, while on ITV1 The Walton Sextuplets: Moving On interested 2.92m (12.7%) at 8pm (+1: 105k/0.7%), and a Benidorm repeat amused 1.99m (8.2%) at 9pm (+1: 172k/1%).
A 7pm hour of soaps ensured ITV didn't lose out to BBC Two, which aired Natural World (2.23m/9.7%) and King George and Queen Mary: The Royals Who Rescued the Monarchy (2.36m/9.8%) to high audiences.
The Secret Millionaire was Channel 4's most-watched broadcast with 1.44m (6%) and 234k (1.3%) on +1, while 1.02m (5.6%) watched 8 Out of 10 Cats at 10pm (+1: 133k/1.4%).
Big Brother anchored Channel 5's night with 1.3m (5.4%) in the 9pm hour, adding 127k (0.7%) on timeshift. The Walking Dead followed with 843k (4.7%).
Overall, BBC One led primetime with 27.6%, beating ITV1's 15.5% (+1: 0.9%). BBC Two earned third place with 8%, ahead of Channel 4's 4.4% (+1: 0.7%), and Channel 5's 3.9% (+1: 0.2%).
On the multichannels, Chris Moyles' Comedy Empire entertained 409k (2.3%) on BBC Three at the 10pm junction.
