Beginning at 5.50pm and closing at 8pm, the tennis managed 1.17m (6.6%) for the channel. BBC One's afternoon coverage averaged 1.38m (16.5%).
Later on BBC Two, Today at Wimbledon was watched by 1.01m (4.5%) and King George and Queen Mary: The Royals Who Rescued the Monarchy grabbed 1.94m (8.5%).
Over on BBC One, Panorama took 2.39m (10.6%) and Traffic Cops had 3.65m (16%).
ITV1's Countrywise entertained 3.38m (15.3%) with an additional 155k (0.7%) on +1 and Strictly Kosher took 3.74m (16.5%) and a further 255k (1.4%) on timeshift.
On Channel 4, Dispatches was caught by 1.44m (6.6%) from 8pm (+1: 315k/1.4%) and Gok Cooks Chinese served 949k (4.2%) afterwards (+1: 149k/0.6%). Lifers followed with 2.01m (8.8%) and an extra 544k (3.1%) on +1.
Big Brother continued with 1.15m (5.1%) in the 9pm hour (+1: 140k/0.8%) with The Walking Dead taking 738k (4.1%). The Restaurant Inspector aired earlier to an audience of 825k (3.7%).
Overall, ITV1 won a low-key night with 21.8% (+1: 0.8%) ahead of BBC One's 18.6%. BBC Two came third with 6.4% beating Channel 4's 5.9% (+1: 1.2%) and Channel 5's 3.8% (+1: 0.3%).
On the multichannels, E4's Revenge gripped 577k (2.5%) with a further 174k on timeshift.
