The presenter had previously hit out at viewers who continued to call for Jason Gardiner to be sacked following his on-air spat with colleague Karen Barber.
"I loved the rows," Schofield told New magazine. "Jason Gardiner doesn't have a self-edit button. He will say what he thinks and we're there to pick up the pieces afterwards."
He continued: "I can't stand this attitude that the professionally outraged have when they call for someone to be sacked at the drop of a hat. With Jason and Karen, people were calling for one or both of them to go.
"Lighten up, for God's sake, it's a television show."
The 48-year-old was also inundated with complaints from "outraged" viewers when 'Comedy' Dave Vitty was voted off the ITV1 skating show.
