John Corbett has signed up to return to Parenthood.
The actor first appeared in the second season as Sarah's troubled ex Seth, replacing Darin Hearmes, who played the role in the first season.
Parenthood's executive producer Jason Katims has now confirmed that Corbett will be returning in future episodes, TV Line reports.
Katims explained that Seth's arrival will take place just as Sarah (Lauren Graham) is reconnecting with her love interest Mark, played by returning cast member Jason Ritter.
"Just when everything seems to be going well between Sarah and Mark, Seth shows up and he's kind of in a darker place than he's been," Katims said. "And so you see Sarah really having to struggle with wanting to help him and be there for him, but also at the same time [be] in this relationship with Mark that's really good and healthy."
He added: "Even though there's so much pain in the Sarah-Seth relationship, there's also a lot of love still there. So this year we wanted to do a story that sort of takes that relationship to another level."
Michael B Jordan has also confirmed that he is returning for the show's third season, which will premiere on September 13 on NBC.
