Melissa McCarthy has revealed that she's "very excited" to host the second episode of Saturday Night Live's 37th season.
The Bridesmaids actress revealed that she was first told that she would be appearing SNL while on a recent shopping trip.
"My agents called and I was at a store and I started weirdly - I would say crying, but it was more like wailing - that [others] thought I was literally insane," McCarthy joked to Access Hollywood. "So, I went and hid in the rug department and I just stood between big rugs and cried. [I] cried my eyes out because I was so happy and overwhelmed."
McCarthy went on to declare that guest hosting Saturday Night Live is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.
"Since I was 5 [years old] I was like, sneaking down to watch Gilda Radner and Jane Curtin and I've watched it my entire life," the star said.
"I literally can barely talk about it. It's so overwhelming to me and so, I mean, just such a huge dream that I don't quite have the spot in my head yet for it."
McCarthy's sitcom Mike & Molly will kick off its second season in September on CBS.
