The Scream 4 actress said that her role on the supernatural drama took over much of her life and kept her from getting into trouble as a teenager as she had no time for anything outside of the show's production schedule.
"Heroes wasn't just a show, it was a massive, massive production that was ten months out of the year and definitely monopolized my life," she explained in a new interview with Parade.
"At that period of time, it was probably a godsend for me. It kept me busy, kept me out of trouble. It was steady. It was a great place for me to be at that point in my life."
Panettiere went on to say that she would not be averse to another regular TV role, adding: "I definitely wouldn't be opposed to doing another show. I don't think I would do a show like Heroes, though. I would like to have a bit of an easier schedule, but then again, you never say never."
The 22-year-old added: "I'd love to see what comes along and it's almost pilot season, so it's time to read some scripts soon. At the same time, I'm young. I'm anxious, but I try to remind myself that there's plenty of time and not rush it and take things in stride."
Panettierre has said that she wants to pursue more "mature" acting roles and that she no longer wants to play high school students.
