Green is releasing the new track 'I Love Football' to coincide with the Thursday Night Football premiere on September 13, pitting the Green Bay Packers against the Chicago Bears.
Fans are invited to submit videos of themselves singing sections of 'I Love Football', with lucky winners to be featured in the official video for the track.
The NFL Network's Brian Lockhart has described the 'Fanthem' campaign as a new way to involve fans in each football game.
'I Love Football' is based on the classic Ramones hit 'Blitzkrieg Bop'. Green told The AP that he has long wanted to pay tribute to the pioneering punk band.
"I'm definitely a Ramones fan. Punk rock is like pots and pans, like making something out of nothing, which is what hip-hop is as well," he explained. "And both of them early on in their humble beginnings were alternative music.
"And therefore it's an alternative to the Faith Hill rendition [of the NFL theme], the Hank Williams rendition and any other one that we'll co-exist with. I talk like a politician but I'm a punk at heart."
Green will also return with Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton to The Voice, airing Monday, September 10 on NBC.
