'The Secret Circle': Joe Lando signs up to play John Blackwell

Joe Lando has signed up to appear in The Secret Circle.

Lando has landed the role of Cassie's mysterious father John Blackwell, TV Guide reports.

Blackwell, who has been referred to several times in the series, will return to Chance Harbor in an attempt to help out Cassie (Britt Robertson) and the rest of the Circle.

The character, who claims that he has changed, is described as "powerful" and "enigmatic", but he is also thought to have a number of enemies.

Lando, who will make his Secret Circle debut in the 15th episode of the season, has previously appeared in shows such as Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman, Higher Ground, Wildfire and Melrose Place.

Michael Graziadei and Sammi Rotibi have also signed up for roles in The Secret Circle, which airs on Thursdays at 9/8c on The CW.
