Chambers, who plays Alex on the medical drama, said that he has enjoyed working on the ABC show for the past seven years.
"It makes me sad to know that we're closer to the end [than the beginning]," Chambers told TVLine. "[But] it's been a great ride. It really has. There was no better job that I could've fallen into."
Chambers went on to admit that he is uncertain about his future on the series.
"I don't know if I'll go farther," Chambers said. "I don't know if the show will go farther. When we get to that point, we'll go from there.
"We know it's going to end sooner or later. It's just about ending well and the audience getting what they want out of it, and maybe there are some amends made with the characters, because they're very flawed."
Chyler Leigh suggested that Chambers's character could be hated on the forthcoming season after he revealed that Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) had tampered with the Alzheimer's trial in the show's season finale.
In 2009, Chambers described Grey's Anatomy as a "great springboard" to other acting projects, praising his co-star Katherine Heigl's film career.
Grey's Anatomy will return for its eighth season on September 22 at 9pm on ABC.
