Mariah Carey officially signed as an American Idol judge on Monday (July 23). Cannon joked that it was "about time" his wife got a job.
"That woman needs to work," he told Access Hollywood. "She needs to make some money around the house. I'm tired of supporting the whole family."
He went on to say that he's looking forward to having people see his wife's sense of humour.
"She's gonna be amazing," Cannon continued. "What I'm excited about is that people don't know my wife's sense of humour. They always get to see it in sound bites, so they don't know what's going on.
"They about to get that whole Mariah Carey raw and uncut and see the woman that I fell in love with."
Carey previously appeared as a guest mentor on American Idol's seventh season, where contestants sang versions of her hits.
The singer recently announced the details of her new single 'Triumphant (Get 'Em)', which will be released at the beginning of August.
